  • In the case of this plant, the Plant Drug (PD) is the whole plant, leaves and root.

    Among its active principles it contains sulfur compounds, anthocyanosides, vitamins B, C and P, iodine, magnesium and sulfur.

    It is indicated in cases of loss of appetite, hyposecretory dyspepsias, hepatobiliary dyskinesias, hepatitis, migraines of hepatic origin. Also in treatments to combat flu, bronchitis, colds, emphysema, asthma, pharyngitis, irritative cough and sinusitis. In treatments against cystitis, urolithiasis, rheumatism, gout and scurvy.

    The pharmacological actions are the following: Aperitif, Digestive, Choleretic, Hepatoprotective, Expectorant, Diuretic, Antiseptic, Nutritive and Rubefacient (topical)

    Among the aspects to be considered regarding contraindications and precautions is the prescription to people with hypothyroidism or predisposition. Indol-3-methylglucosinolate and allyl isothiocyanate have antithyroid action, inducing goiter. Allyl isothiocyanate may cause gastric irritation.
