Green coffee (Coffea arabica L.) has stimulating properties of the central nervous system (CNS) at a psychic and neuromuscular level due to the presence of caffeine (xanthine bases) among its active principles, they stimulate cortical activity, inhibit sleep and reduce the sensation of fatigue.
It is also responsible for cardiorespiratory stimulation presenting positive inotropic action, increasing cardiac and coronary frequency, it is platelet antiaggregant and slightly hypolipidemic. It stimulates muscle contraction and has diuretic action like the potassium salts it contains.
It is usually indicated as an adjuvant in treatments for overweight, both in Internal Route Formulations and in External Route Formulations. It is also indicated in cases of psycho-physical asthenia, arterial hypotension, bradycardia, biliary dyskinesia, constipation, bronchitis, cardiorespiratory depression and localized adiposities (cellulite).
Summarizing its properties we can count the following: CNS stimulant, Diuretic, Intestinal regulator, Lipolytic and Astringent.
