  • From Proyar Laboratory we want to accompany and collaborate so that, together, we can think of a better future. The global crisis we are experiencing should leave us profound lessons, understanding that we are one species among many others, we must take care of ourselves and our environment if we want to live a better future.

We consider that the document presented below helps to understand and consequently to lose or minimize the fears that often paralyze us and do not let us think, while providing elements to take care of ourselves and take care of others.

The US government's Centers for Disease Control has formalized the emerging scientific evidence on coronavirus transmission:

    1. Very low risk of transmission from surfaces.
    2. Very low risk of outdoor activities.
    3. Very high risk of gatherings in enclosed spaces, such as offices, places for religious services, cinemas or theaters.

Other interesting data, the viral load required to initiate the disease is ~ 1000 viral particles (vp).

    1. Breathing: ~ 20 vp / minute
    2. Speech: ~ 200 vp / minute
    3. Coughing: ~ 200 million vp (enough can remain in the air for hours in a poorly ventilated environment)
    4. Sneezing: ~ 200 million vp
    5. Being near someone (~ 2m distance): low risk if the limit is less than 45 minutes
    6. Talking to someone face to face (with mask): low risk if the limit is less than 4 minutes
    7. Someone walking next to you / running / cycling: low risk
    8. Well-ventilated spaces, with distance: low risk.
    9. Shopping: medium risk (can reduce downward, limit time and follow hygiene)
    10. Indoor spaces: high risk
    11. Public restrooms / common areas: high risk of fomites / surface transfer
    12. Restaurants: high risk (can reduce to medium risk by sitting outdoors with distance and awareness of surface contact)
    13. Workplaces / schools (even with social distancing): very high risk, including high risk of fomite transfer
    14. Parties / Weddings: very high risk
    15. Business networks / conferences: very high risk
    16. Arenas / Concerts / Cinemas: very high risk

The main factors you can use to calculate your risk are:

    Indoor vs Outdoor
Narrow Spaces vs Large Ventilated Spaces
High Density of People vs Low Density
    Long Exposure vs Short Exposure

    Protect yourself and others:

    Maintain Social Distance
    Wash Your Hands Frequently
    Clean and Disinfect Surfaces Regularly
Cover Mouth and Nose with Face Mask
